The Healthy Dessert You Make in 10 Minutes

No flour, no eggs, no milk involved, and you could also skip the sugar for this tasty dessert.

With all the work and the challenges I’ve been through lately (I will tell you about my new project in a couple of weeks), a small break is more than welcome from time to time.

This time, I’ll take a break and eat a good dessert, a tasty and easy to make avocado mousse.

Yeah, I know what they say, if it’s sweet, it will get you fat, but I know they won’t be right this time. No flour, no eggs, no milk involved, and you could also skip the sugar.

Grab an avocado and a bit of cocoa and prepare yourself to be amazed by this mouthwatering combination that takes only 10 minutes to make!

Let’s make a list, so you won’t miss anything while preparing this creamy treat:

  • a well ripe avocado (check the tips below for finding the perfect fruit)
  • two tablespoons of cocoa
  • two tablespoons of honey or other sweetener in case you want to avoid sugar (brown sugar also works)
  • a tablespoon of olive oil
  • a pinch of salt (add salt to all desserts and they will taste better)
  • two tablespoons of rum
  • a tablespoon of vanilla sugar

The first and most important step is finding the perfect avocado for this recipe, which means the fruit should be ripe enough to turn into a creamy mouse. The tip is simple: check under the stem to see the color that part of the fruit has. Green means the avocado is not ready yet, brown means it might be rotten. If it’s yellow, you won, this is the avocado you need for cooking.

Next, you ripe the avocado and toss it in the blended for less than a minute, along with the olive oil then the sweetener. Add cocoa, rum and vanilla, and the pinch of salt, and give it the final spin.

Pour it into a glass jar and add a couple of tablespoons of whipped cream on top. I recommend making your own whipped cream using low fat cream (10% fat is what I got for this recipe), and one or two tablespoons of sugar. Yeah, using sugar for making whipped cream might not be a very healthy choice, but it’s still much better than what you get if you buy it canned.

Finally, add a few berries on top to make it look better…

Now you may eat it…

I’m not a specialist in nutrition, so I’m not able to give professional advice, but remember that avocado is actually called a superfood, given the fact that they are packed with nutrients and a lot of substances that helps the body stay healthy. Read more HERE about the benefits of avocado.

This is my favorite all times dessert and I just can’t believe I haven’t told you before about it. This thought came into my mind after eating it, so I lost the opportunity to take a picture with the most recent one. Luckily I had older pictures to illustrate the story otherwise you would have missed this recipe again.

I love cooking and canning, but making desserts is not my strength, so you may consider it a rare occasion to see my desserts. Now you can do it by yourself and share the experience below! Or you can use it as a start for other tasty recipes.

Either way, don’t forget to dream, dare and create your own projects and recipes!

  1. Okay, I’m sold. I would never imagine that an avocado desert would work, but all the ingredients, including the rum just seem to fit together. I have got to try this Gabi, it sounds fascinating

    1. That’s what I said when I heard about it, but now I can’t live without it. I can’t wait to see if you like it 🙂
