The DIY Tassel Necklace You Can Make in Minutes

Do you know a woman that says she has enough shoes and jewelry? I don’t, and I have to admit that I also tend to think that mine are not enough.

Since spending all the money on shoes and jewelry is not an option, I have to survive with what I have. (oh!….) But I’ve found that I can easily solve the bling-bling problem making my own jewelry and customizing it according to the outfit it goes with.

So, here are the easy steps to create a necklace you can easily customize according to your outfits, anytime you need.

I had a few tassels 3.5-in long that I didn’t know what to do with. One of them was black, and the other one emerald green. I haven’t found a purpose for them until I had to attend a party and my outfit was incomplete without a long simple necklace. So I made one. Here’s what you need to make yours:

  • 35-in long string (leather, velvet, silk or anything else you have)
  • 3.5-in silk tassel
  • 3 large beads

Pull the string of the tassel through one of the beads, using a needle and a thread, as you see below.

The hardest part of the job is done! Pull the string through the loop of the tassel, then add the beads on each side of the tassel.

Voila! It’s done! And it was good enough to wear it at a garden party, when the most important Scandinavian home & decor retailer in my country launched its summer collection.

You might ask what happened with the second tassel.

Well, he followed the same path, as it joined hands with three crystal beads and a golden leaf, and now they’re hanging together on a golden string.

I have a few containers filled with beads in different colors and sizes (if you like these exquisite containers HERE’s how to make yours). I think you can easily imagine what’s next…
