Easy DIY Easter Decor: Painted Egg Cartons▶️

Everybody likes new Easter decorations, right? Buying something new every year can be expensive, so here’s an easier way to solve that need. I just found a perfect sustainable and easy DIY Easter decor idea for storing and displaying dyed Easter eggs on the Easter table. Grab a couple of egg carton crates and your kids’ watercolor paint, because I’m going to show you how to craft something awesome!

What you Need for This Quick DIY Easter Project

materials

I’m sure we all have these: egg carton crates, watercolors, a water spray bottle, and a brush. You mai skip the scissors unless you need to discard the cardboard lid and only keep the bottom.

How to Color the Cartons

Things are really simple and based on the idea that the cardboard absorbs watercolor when it’s almost wet. So, spray the cardboard on all sides, and as it absorbs water, paint on it with watercolor, here and there.

Then spray again with water and wait a bit for the color to spread. However, don’t overdo it with the spraying: the cardboard is quite sensitive to moisture and it will bend if it gets too wet. Therefore, don’t hold it in your hand while spraying and painting while but let it lay on a hard surface.

The effect will be even more surprising if you use cardboard crates in different colors. You’ll see how the watercolor reacts differently and how original shades emerge on each paintbrush stroke.

Let the cardboard dry, and then you can use them for the purpose they were made for.

I think this is a very accessible and surprising option for a quick Easter decoration, made with minimal expense and impact.
